Black and White Throw Pillows

Decorating With Throw Pillows

The primary focal point of our living room is none other than our sofa. Whether it’s an old couch with simple fabric cover, a standalone wooden bench or a newly bought modern futon, all eyes are on our sofa. Sofas are considered to be a primary solid thing that catches attention that is why redecorating them would mean a great impact on our living room. If you need an instant living room makeover, dress up your sofa and achieve the said effect instantaneously.

However, dressing up your sofa doesn’t mean having a set of custom made covers changed time to time. Also, you don’t need to reupholster them every season just to compliment the weather. All you need is a set of wonderful throw pillows, lots of imagination and paramount creativity to help you get started.

Try pairing but with a twist

To keep you on the safe side and to prevent living room interior disasters, work with paired throw pillows but add some twist. All you need to do is to pair patterned throw pillows with solid ones and this will bring a clean look that is not too boring yet stylish. Dressing up your sofa using pairs of pillows gives a more balanced appeal that is a bit exciting but not flamboyant, simple yet impressive. A good tip to remember is to put solid dark colored pillows at the back and use lighter patterned pillows in front to accentuate the whole sofa rather than the pillows alone.

Use different pattern throw pillows

For those of you who wants a happier more vibrant looking room, put together various shades of throw pillows into your sofa to create a theme or contrasting effect. Play with colors especially those designer pillows as they feature not just luscious colors but striking patterns as well. To create contrast, choose a stripe and a floral patterns, for example, in creating a contrast look. Playing with colors is indeed vital especially for those who owns a neutral colored sofa.

Pillows are beautiful, easy to work with, versatile, and great home accent pieces. Now you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars just to make your sofa and living room look fashionable from time to time. Japanese Print Throw Pillows by ModDiva

We wanted to tell you about the series of Japanese screen printed fabric throw pillows we have on ModDiva.com. All of these fabrics are screen printed in Japan only.  The fabric is a cotton / linen lightweight canvas blend with screen printed colors that are beautiful, vibrant and long-lasting.  The fabric is not being screen printed until an order is placed so it takes approximately 3 months after submitting an order before fabric is received.  Each Japanese fabric collection is only available for about 1 year, so the supply is always limited and very high in demand.  Mod Diva offers the largest assortment of home accessories utilizing these high end Japanese designer fabrics.

 

My favorite part about these Japanese textiles is the vibrant and story-telling prints.  The animated graphics are always stunning and exceptional looking.  Beyond the look of the designs, I also love the texture of the material.  The combination of cotton and linen gives these textiles a wonderful texture and it is very sturdy as well.  Easy to care for.  Machine washable cold water and iron on high heat to bring out the vibrant colors even more.  What more can one ask for in a textile?

Mod Diva’s Throw Pillows

Throw pillows were the first product for Mod Diva as I was searching for some really nice pillows.  But I was unable to find high quality throw pillows at a price that I could afford.  Target, Walmart and many department stores only offered generic looking ones and the textile / materials were many times polyester blends (I personally hate the feeling of poly fabric on my skin).

ModDiva offers one of the largest selections of decorative pillows online.  With the variety of colors and designs we offer, there is something there for everyone and almost every taste.  All of the throw pillows are made utilizing the highest quality cotton and cotton / linen fabrics.  As beautiful as these pillows are, they are as easy to care for as they are machine washable with cold water and iron as needed.  

The seams inside are all serged with a 5 needle industrialized serger machine preventing fraying and ensuring lifelong durability.  Many throw pillows purchased at department store use only a single needle machine without going to extra mile of serging all seams, so the seams will fall apart or start fraying after only a few washes.  

We are using an invisible zipper as closure.  We have gotten many compliments on the look of our invisible zippers “…they are truly invisible” has been many customers feedback.  The invisible zippers allow not just for easy changing of covers, but you can use “both” sides of the pillow.  Many companies utilize a solid fabric on one side which lowers their material cost of the finished merchandise.  So, customer can utilize only one side of the pillow since the back side is just a solid color and the zipper, most likely, goes through the middle of the solid back.  Many companies put the zipper in the center of the back (versus using an invisible zipper) is because the invisible zippers are a lot more expensive and much more difficult to sew in.  The invisible zipper requires more skilled craftsmanship.

Design Process: When going through the selection process of what textiles to utilize as throw pillows, it is important that only high thread count fabrics are being used to ensure that the finished product lasts for a very long time.  We try to not just select one stand-alone fabric to make a pillow but we try to select a group of fabrics that would make a “collection” allowing the customer to mix and match all the various designs.  

Manufacturing Process: The cutting phase is very important; maybe even the most important phase of the manufacturing process.  Many of the textiles used have to be hand cut due to the nature of the pattern.  That is very time consuming but well worth the end result.  Our local San Diego sewing contractor takes care of the assembly of the pillow covers.
